Our Story
During the sweet fall of 1996, in the classroom of grade eleven biology at St. Martins Secondary School, there were two young teens that had yet to meet and had no idea where their life or love would take them.
It was the morning of September 19, and Jason was excited, celebrating his birthday with some friends, when a girl from across the classroom gave him a hand-doodled card and then walked away. It said "HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASON From Cherie".
It was a full year before the two were again in the same classroom, this time however, their desks were side by side in grade twelve Religion. Cherie loved to tease poor Jason, get him all worked up and in trouble. Jason didn't mind though, he saw that there was a friendship growing. They loved to go cruising together during their lunch break listening to the oldies. Over the next year without even realising it, they had become best friends.
He soon thought that there could be more, but when approached with this she did not agree. With such strong feelings for her Jason, angry at the situation had to discontinue following the feelings within his heart and create a space between them. She very quickly realized what she was missing, and that not only did she want him... but needed him as well.
On March 17 1998, during a movie (The Big Lebowski) the two officially started dating, and fell in love.
In September 2007, while a kick ass birthday party prepared by Cherie was in full swing, Jason asked all twenty plus guests to go to the front porch, he had a little surprise. "Thank you all for showing up this evening. I really appreciate the gifts, they mean a lot to me. However there is only one gift that would make this a truly happy birthday" and turning towards Cherie, Jason knelt down one knee, opened a little box and asked "Cherie Melissa Franjic, will you marry me?" With all the cheering and crying, no one even heard her answer but the huge smile and glow on her face said it all.
